WESF plays a role in promoting standardization and eliminating global trade barriers.
The American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Scaffold and Access Industry Association (SAIA) to advance worker safety and health nationwide.
Together, the organizations will work to advance national consensus standards and explore key regulatory and legislative issues. They will cross-promote volunteer opportunities, share content, and amplify stories of member communities. Ultimately, the purpose of the MoU is to build a larger and more engaged safety community and encourage the sharing of trusted guidance to drive positive workplace safety outcomes, ASSP reported.
“We recognize the benefits of collaboration to improve occupational safety and health practices while elevating the voice of our profession,” said ASSP president Linda Tapp. “Together we strive to strengthen advocacy efforts that reduce worker illnesses, injuries, and fatalities across the board.”
ASSP also reports that the MoU is the most recent effort among many joint agreements that the organization has in place to improve the well-being of workers in all industries.
