The Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) has published a Request for Information (RFI) seeking input on Federal programs and activities to advance U.S. manufacturing competitiveness, including advanced manufacturing research and development (R&D). ANSI encourages all relevant stakeholders to submit their input by the September 30 deadline.

The RFI includes a list of 12 questions intended to improve government coordination and provide long-term guidance for relevant Federal programs and activities relevant to advanced manufacturing. Topics of interest include examples and structures of successful public-private partnerships; identifying which emerging science and technology areas will be key to the next generation of advanced manufacturing technologies; near-term and long-term technology R&D priorities for advanced manufacturing; and attracting, training, and retaining a skilled workforce for advanced manufacturing; among others.

Public input provided in response to this RFI will inform the development of the National Strategic Plan for Advanced Manufacturing. This plan, updated every four years with facilitation from NIST, guides federal efforts to enhance U.S. manufacturing competitiveness, create jobs, boost economic growth, strengthen national security, and improve healthcare.

Read the RFI to learn more, including instructions for submitting a response. All submissions received in response to this notice may be posted on https://www.regulations.gov/ or otherwise released in their entirety.
