WESF plays a role in promoting standardization and eliminating global trade barriers.
PMMI, The Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies recently released a new white paper: “The Impact of Global and Local Standards on OEMs & Suppliers.”
The May 2025 report examines why standards are important to machinery builders, what core standards are relevant to packaging and processing, and how to determine what standards to follow. Updated from its original release in 2023, the report also includes information on risk assessment and relevant terminology, as well as a free course for those who seek to learn more about standards development.
“With financial and technical assistance provided by the U.S. International Trade Administration, PMMI has developed a course to spread knowledge about, and awareness of, standards with the goal of increasing the competitiveness of U.S. machinery suppliers on the world market. The course provides an in-depth overview of the standard development process and describes how standards can help meet business objectives,” reads the report.
